Swimming and dieting for fat loss?

I was planning on doing some work to get my fat ass into shape this semester.
Would this be a good plan… ? :

I was thinking of swimming daily for 1-2 hours while at the same time eating lighter. Maybe a muffin for breakfast and then a 6 inch Subway sandwich a dinner/lunch with just lettuce and tomato, no dressing/cheese.

I’m like 235lbs right now at 6ft tall. Would like to slim down some.
This a good approach?
Oh, yeah, and I’m a dude. :P
