im trying to lose weight and build muscle fast?

im overweight by 15 pounds and I have man boobs, I been told that doing push ups will build muscle and get rid of man boobs, is that true? and what foods do you reccomend that have alot of protein so I can start building alot of muscle?

I weigh 224 pounds and im 6"1.
also, is it better to do pushups through out the day? like if I wanted to do 100 and I do reps of 10 every 2 hours?
