I need diet help? :\?

Okay, I'm an 18 year old in College and I've been over weight for about 3-4 years now. Its not a huge number over weight but i am very subconscious of my stomach, hips, and now stretch marks. My family typically eats out every night but I'm on my own for lunch, I usually have a turkey or ham sandwich with a jello sugar free cup. However when my family goes out to dinner I'm not sure what to do, Usually 3-4 times a week i have chicken cesar salad but that's not always available where we go and can get tiring. Also I hate stake. Also, this new years resolution for me was no more soda, which is alot easier than I expected, so I usually drink water, milk, or Kool-aid made with splenda. However because I've given up sodas I crave sweets very badly, I cant have fruit because Im allergic. Also I'm now taking Volleyball 3 times a week which lasts one hour. Are my eating habits going to help me any? Along with working out? Or do I need to do more.

Im 5'8" and weight about 190ish.
Also, I would appreciate NON ADVERTISMENT answers. Pricks.
