		<description>Crash diets only work in the short term. You will gain back more than you lose.

The slower the weight loss the better for your health (and the more likely it is for the weight to stay off). You can probably lose 1lb (0.5kg) per week without it being too much too quickly. Under *some* conditions you might be able to go to twice that for a short time (if you&#039;re already extremely obese to start with), but not long term.

Even if you did crazy stupid things like not eat anything for a week, and exercised 4+ hours/day (assuming you could without any energy from food), you wouldn&#039;t lose more than about 3 lbs anyway.

So, yeah, if you do all the things you already know and don&#039;t want to do (eat sensible, exercise sensibly), you could probably lose 1-2 lbs max by New Years. Any more than that is not possible without serious health risks and almost certainly you&#039;ll gain it back anyway. Be extremely suspicious of anyone or anything that promises more than 1-2 lbs/week!!</description>
