When dieting to lose weight, does it really matter how you get the calories?

What is the difference between eating healthy fruits, lean meats, a snack to equal 1,300 calories to eating unhealthy things like 100 calorie packs, popcorn and occasionally fruits to equaling 1,300 calories? Just wondering. As long as you lose weight, does it matter how you actually get the calories, as long as you stay in range? If so, what can be the difference?
