    Depends upon your eating habits.

But what can be said is that breastfeeding burns about 300 to 500 calories per day.

Not everybody does. Most of the Mom I know kept on most of their baby weight until they stopped breastfeeding. I only breastfed 9 days. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within 3 months (gained 35 pounds with pregnancy).

You burn about 500 calories per day but that doesn’t mean that you’ll lose any weight. Breastfeeding helps your uterus return to its prepregnancy size faster than if you don’t breastfeed.

I was 158lb the day I had my daughter and I lost about 10lb per week from there back to 124lb. I’m 9wks postpartum I was originally 109lb.

What breastfeeding does is stimulate your nipples which in turn contracts your uterus which helps to empty the blood from your uterus. Otherwise it is the calorie burning that helps to lose other weight. You have to watch your diet though.

When you breastfeed your baby you lose all the weight that you gained while pregnant.

However, remember that milk is produced with fat and you may keep some fat around the thighs for example, while you nurse. What it does is help the uterus to go back to it’s pre-pregnancy size. It is also a wonderful way to bond with the baby and give your baby the best nourishment there is!
