    i would say elliptical.
because the elliptical would be better for burning calories, since it's more cardio.
the ab lounge would be more for sculpting abs,
    but both are good.
    good luck! :)

I would think an elliptical cause it involves more cardio, and cardio burns fat. That's what I always used at the gym.

Buy the elliptical, and then head to target or wal mart and buy an exercise ball. The elliptical will help you big time with cardio, which is essential for losing weight. Do some google searches and you will find great ab workouts for the ball and they are so much better than wasting your money on the ab lounge. The ab lounge can only help one part of your body, while the elliptical can help several parts. Good luck.

The elliptical loses the weight, because its cardio, while the ab lounger gives you ab muscle. i would suggest using the elliptical until your satisfied with your weight, and then use the ab lounger to get toned.
    good luck!

Neither. You can't "target" weight loss to a specific spot, like belly fat. The only way to lose weight in your midsection is to lose weight overall. That takes two things: more exercise and less food intake (less calories).

Having said that, I think the elliptical trainer will be better suited to helping you lose more weight overall. None of the ab workout machines I've tried do a very good job of helping you burn total calories.

Elliptical – it helps you lose fat overall, and also strengthens your muscles all over, without causing too much strain on the joints. Cardio will also help increase metabolism, so you will use up more calories during inactivity hours of the day. 30 min a day, 5 days a week, should guarantee a weight loss, although it might be slow, granted that it came on slowly as well. Ab Lounge, just targets the muscles, without burning much fat…meaning that you might get developed muscles underneath a fatty tissue, sure, but really, cardio is a much healthier, more beneficial way to go. Elliptical is best next to swimming, so I'd go for that.

Actually I read in the Good Housekeeping magazine that the best way to lose belly fat and tighten up stomach muscles are these three steps. They aren't very difficult. First the best thing to buy to tighten and sculpt the stomach is a exercise ball and do exercises like push-ups (with ball under shins) or you can look up other exercises for the belly. You do that 3 times a week (with days of rest in between) for about 15-20 minutes. The second step is cardio workouts to burn calories. If you want to do the elliptical then do that 3 times a week…in between the ball if you want…for 15 minutes at a brisk pace. Then the third step is to eat healthy foods and drink lots of water (foods that are good belly-fat burning foods are nuts, avocados, whole grains, veggies, and yogurt). They say that in 4 weeks you will tighten those muscles and burn fat around your stomach. The main thing is to keep a steady schedule. The ball is really cheap and it works really well because you have to keep your core strong to keep your balance. I know that was a long explanation but I hoped that it helped! Good Luck!

I have an elliptical, and not even a very good one (it;s the ProForm Xp115, which I hear is very popular on Craigslist). I got it in Febryary of 2007, but didn't really get into it until this year. I do about an hour a day and, with no change in my diet, I've lost between 20 – 25lbs. Much of that is probably water-weight, that stuff that easily evaporates, but I've kept it off without eating health bars or fasting. Machines like the elliptical are good for building up your metabolism and (less so) your muscle, two things you'll need to lose weight. I've combined my routine with a 15 minute abs routine – short crunches, side crunches, reverse crunches and the bicycle crunch, reportedly the most efficient of them all. While weight loss seems minimal, the fat is that Ive rediscovered clothes I thought I'd lost forever.
